I’ve gotten into the habit of making a playlist for every book I write. I love music, but most songs really distract me so I can’t listen to random music as I write. However, I’ve found that certain songs really bring out the emotion and feelings of different books and characters. When I get revisions for a draft of my book, it’s often months later and I’m working on new books by then – which means other book characters take up my head space! So when the I have to dive into the revisions, my playlists help to bring me right back to the characters of that particular book.
Most playlists have at least three songs that I strongly identify with for a particular book. Hopefully these songs will enhance and inspire your reading the same way they’ve inspired my writing! Let me know if you have any songs that come to mind…
